MTSOU Celebrates First Foundation Day in Hybrid Mode

Celebrating one year of academic progress and institutional growth, Mata Tripura Sundari Open University marked its 1st Foundation Day on 2 March 2026 in hybrid mode.

The ceremony began with a welcome address by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Masood Parveez, followed by ceremonial lamp lighting by Chief Guest Arunoday Saha and distinguished dignitaries, including Ratan Kumar Saha and Bibhas Deb.

The dignitaries were felicitated with traditional Risa and floral bouquets, symbolizing respect for Tripura’s cultural identity.

In his address, Prof. Parveez reviewed the University’s first-year achievements and reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence in open and distance learning. Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Ghanshyam Singh presented the Annual Report, highlighting major institutional initiatives undertaken during the inaugural year.

The programme concluded with keynote lectures by eminent academicians focusing on holistic university transformation and AI-driven educational innovation.

Celebration of 77th Republic Day at MTSOU City Office

Mata Tripura Sundari Open University (MTSOU) celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India with great pride and patriotic fervour at its City Office, Hapania, Agartala. The celebration began with the hoisting of the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem, in the presence of university officials, faculty members, staff, and students, as reflected in the photograph.

The occasion was marked by a sense of unity and respect for the Constitution of India. Faculty and staff participated enthusiastically, adorned in traditional attire, symbolising India’s rich cultural diversity. Floral tributes were offered, and sweets were distributed to commemorate the historic day.

The programme concluded with a brief address highlighting the significance of Republic Day and reaffirming MTSOU’s commitment to the values of democracy, equality, and inclusive education in the spirit of the Constitution.

Higher Education Department Committee Visits MTSOU - 2026

A Committee constituted by the Higher Education Department, Government of Tripura, visited Mata Tripura Sundari Open University (MTSOU) as part of an official assessment exercise to review academic activities, statutory compliance, and infrastructural facilities of private universities/institutions in the State.

The Committee comprised senior officials of the Higher Education Department, namely Shri Rajesh Bhattacharjee, Additional Director; Shri Arun Debbarma, Joint Director; and Dr. Tamojay Deb, Associate Professor & OSD (G). The visit was undertaken in pursuance of the decision taken in the review meeting held under the chairmanship of the Hon’ble Minister, Higher Education, on 15 July 2025.

During the visit, the Committee interacted with university authorities and reviewed various aspects including academic programmes, regulatory approvals, student intake and admissions, learner support mechanisms, and available infrastructure. Relevant records and documents were examined, and presentations were made by the University highlighting its academic initiatives, compliance status, and future plans in alignment with NEP 2020.

The officials appreciated the cooperation extended by the University authorities during the inspection and noted the initiatives taken by MTSOU in expanding access to higher education through the open and distance learning mode in Tripura. The Committee will submit its detailed report to the Higher Education Department within the stipulated time.

The visit reflects the Government of Tripura’s continued commitment to ensuring quality, transparency, and regulatory compliance in higher education institutions across the state.
